Each golf course with irrigation design by Harvey Mills Design is notably uniform in turf color, density, and quality. This is due to the unique process undertaken at these golf courses to ensure uniform design. After each golf hole is shaped and approved by the golf course architect, HMD surveys the features of the hole with survey grade mapping equipment. HMD then downloads the golf course features, including greens, tees, turf limits, bunkers, cart paths, trees, and lakes to AutoCAD. While on site, HMD staff then custom designs the irrigation system for that  hole, in AutoCAD, with the ability to manipulate the irrigation head layout to maximize distribution uniformity. This tool allows HMD to eliminate trouble areas, back-up heads, and stretched spacing which commonly occur when only tape measures or wire is stretched across the site.

With AutoCAD capabilities, we are able to share this electronic mapping and design immediately and effortlessly. The golf course architect then carefully reviews the planned turf lines and irrigation design to create a balance of desired turf limits and fine irrigation design. The resulting quality product utilizes owner resources efficiently.
